Congratulations, Mr. Roy!!
Thought it very fitting that our first Cypress TaeKwon Do blog entry was a tribute to one of our very first Black Belts. This weekend we celebrated the marriage of Mr. Josh Roy to his fiance, Sarah. Such a sweet courtship and engagment for two very special people that seem made for one another. So sentimental to Mr. and Mrs. Webre with all we have been through with Mr. Roy. Having started TaeKwon Do at Lone Star College just by chance, for a kinesiology credit over 8 years ago, TaeKwon Do seemed to be the thing that "saved" Mr. Roy. Though we never saw it first hand, we heard that he spent his first two years at OU doing too much of what college students do. Most of us only know him as the academic brainiac who excelled in school and everything else he does. Only testimonies in his Black Belt thesis paper and many gracious thank you's from his parents are the only clue that we really ever saw of Mr. Roy ever having problems. Through the years we have nursed him through a broken ankle, seen him through college, a two year engagment, graduation and launching into his career as a Computer Engineer and now into marriage. We have all come to know him as the "hard" instructor, known for his killer Advanced class workouts. We love him as the Power Kids instructor who teaches 4's and 5's with the same sternness as any older child- instilling discipline and respect for TaeKwon Do at the youngest of age. He has drilled TaeKwon Do verbal into many students testing for Black Belt with his incredible ability to memorize the Advanced Manual. For all of our "old timers", Mr. Roy is a staple of Cypress TaeKwon-Do. He was one of our original students and Black Belts, he has taught more students than we can count, held numerous Summer Camps and more than all of that, made an impact on so many young lives. As he moves in to this new phase of his life, we are so bummed not to have him around as much as we used to but cherish the time he joins us to continue his training. We are looking forward to the end of this year when we can celebrate Mr. Roy testing for 3rd Degree Black Belt. Mr. Roy exemplifies the essence of TaeKwon Do. What a great example of integrity, perseverence and discipline! We are so proud of you, Josh and wish you and Sarah a lifetime of happiness! Congratulations, Sarah on one great catch!
